Crocheting really has been there for me during rough times

I mean really been there for me....and in ways saved my sanity and my life. Life throws us all kinds of stuff...but its that stuff that makes us the people we are today. Still when things are tough and right now the economy is not good, people are out of work and nothing is getting any cheaper.....with that said, let me move on a little....i want to make this a reason for you to visit me and get to know me and who i am, not a depressing place . When i was around 34 i was diagnosed with MS....it rocked my world and i was really sick and before i was finally diagnosed, i went through the wringer just trying to figure out what was wrong with me. Well needless to say, i was unable to work and a single parent to 2 teenagers, it was hard....but i got to thinking and angels were a big thing at the time, so i started crocheting these angels and selling them....i made them out of crochet cotton and starched them and sold them.....and literally this is how i paid my bills...but not only that, it gave me some confidence as well....that i wasn't worthless, i could still do something and I felt productive again....and not only that, it was an outlet for me so that i did not feel sorry for myself and worry so much about things, it was a peaceful time when i had that thread and hook in my hands and I was so thankful i could use my hands as i wasn't able to walk and literally i was in a wheelchair. Well things did get better but i really do owe it all (well not all) but crocheting played a huge part in me getting better.....and now 18 years later i am able to get around and i still have my crocheting and hooks. My health has once again failed me, so again, I do not think angels are the item of the day, but i am going to try to figure out how to sell my items but while i am doing that and getting familiar with all of this (blogging, setting up websites, etc) and meeting some awful nice people along the way, i would share my journey with you. I want to help others learn to crochet and love it as much as i do, and as i am pretty much housebound this is my way to communicate with others and make new acquaintances and hopefully a good friend along the way but most of all to encourage others too....well i am still working with wordpress and trying to getting patterns written out so i can share some of those as well with you all, so please be patient with me. Thanks for reading and see ya again soon!

My newest design Fancy Beanie

My Newest creation....hats seem to be the rave right now, at least for my kids, grand kids, nieces, nephews etc....so Savannah wanted a beanie but not a typical one, she wanted fancy and colorful.....hence the rainbow rose. This is a very easy peasy pattern, and you can do this in no time. It took me longer to write out the pattern than to crochet the hat. The pattern will soon follow so you can make your special kiddo, baby, adult one too!!!!
Hey Guys, although we are just getting to know each other.....i have a strong passion for vintage crochet. While searching the internet, i found the most awesome book.......Click Here!.....go see for yourself, if you love vintage this is quite a deal and it is also quite cheap....you get a lot of bang for your buck.....and the great thing about these books are the patterns are over 100 years old......what a collection. I am quite impressed and the reviews are awesome......so i just wanted to share this with you and in the future you will see some of my personal vintage crochet that i have had for years, that my grandmother crocheted and i have handled with lots of TLC. Crocheting with cotton thread sometimes intimidates the average crocheter, but if you can crochet with yarn trust me, you can handle the thread as well. I have the link on my blog so please go and check this out and if you want help getting started with using thread, please just post on here and i will personally help you get started...trust me you will never regret learning to crochet like your grandmother did....i have very fond memories of crocheting because of my grandmother and i always have a thought or two about her when i crochet.

I am still writing my patterns and will be posting them, please be patient and i feel awful lonely, i want someone to follow me so at least i know i am doing something right and if i am doing something wrong, please let me know.

Check this book out, i have already placed my order, and cannot wait to get this book. Thanks guys and have a super crochet day!!!!

Hunters Beanie

Not Enough Hours in the day

Seems like i never have enough hours in the day to get all the crocheting i want to get done....does anyone else ever have this problem???? I know i cannot be the only one to have this problem. I spent most of the weekend crocheting and writing patterns so that i can post them on this blog. I want to be able to inspire as well as teach those who want to learn the fabulous craft of crochet. I also looked over other blogs to see what they had to offer as well. I do want to sell some of my crafts but again, seems i do not have enough time in the day to get all done. School will soon be back in session and so i have been creating skater beanies for back to school. I also want to try to make sure that our local school has hats for all of the children this year....this is a goal of mine. I have been so fortunate to have help when i have needed it and now i want to give back. I have recently due to health issues had to quit working which has been a hardship on my family but crocheting is relaxing and i figure this is something i can still do and hopefully make a little income while i am at it. I hope i can get some followers and i love to teach children to crochet if there is an interest in this. If you or you have a child that is interested in learning to crochet, let me know and i will start a blog just to show them how to get started. I also want to teach how to read a pattern. My niece does not know how to read a pattern so, there is a lot I have to offer and i hope that i can help you learn the the art of crocheting. So, until next blog, and it will be soon as i plan to work on posting some pictures and samples of the work that i do, have a great day and remember (i am mainly reminding myself) there is always tomorrow :) bye for now

Well Hello....This is my first blog, but i just wanted to let you all get to know a little about me and maybe meet some nice friends along the way. I am an avid crocheter. When i was very young, 5 years old, yes at 5 I learned to crochet....but not with yarn only cotton. I spent summers with my grandma and we lived out in the country and we had nothing else to do...she did a lot of doilies and bed spreads etc. She also taught me to tat, and i never loved it as much as i did to actually crochet. So, for years, i have made so many gifts for others and my family, entered fairs, brought home many ribbons that i know want to share my knowledge and help others and mostly to keep this art going. I will be doing some YouTube tutorials on crocheting for adults and kids....its a great hobby and this part, the blogging and YouTube are all new to me so maybe you all can give me some advice as well....I also have another blog that i will be using for care of crocheted items, repairs, etc. So, i start this journey today and look forward to meeting some of you and sharing patterns and hopefully i can help someone become just as crazy about crocheting as i am...So, until next blog, happy crocheting to you....Nice to meet you all!!!!
